Might be a good time to explore use of the word "woke" by the right as a political weapon. It now means everything & nothing. It's a buzzword aimed at emotion-harvesting & little else.

As this conversation suggests, "woke" is building a community of hate

For this year’s International Women’s Day, let me put it as simply as I can: men are damn lucky we want equality, not revenge.

Hey folks!

A non-partisan grassroots group of K-12, museum, & university educators are providing book lapel pins to members of Congress to wear at Tuesday's #StateoftheUnion address to signal their support for education, literacy, & libraries.

Watch for it!

OK.
An introductory post!

I’m a professor of US history & American Studies at Yale University.
I’m fascinated by the culture of politics & political violence in the early national U.S.

And I spend a LOT of time podcasting, webcasting, lecturing, writing, and generally spouting off about demo

Yes! This is the point.
It's easy to get people riled up -- and goad them to act on their feelings.
Emotions as politics.
Works quite well, particularly when you have no real platform or policies.
Just hate.
MiSquaredS @MiSquaredS
I swear Fox MAGA leaders are trying to keep emotions up high and inconsistent. It’s exhausting. Working to incite?

The economy added more than half a million jobs, and the unemployment rate is now at its lowest point in more than 50 years.

Thanks, President Biden!

Today for the third day of Black History I'm going to highlight Sheryl Lee Ralph (Actress)

I know people probably know her only from Abbott Elementary but her career is so rich.

Please just Google her.

She's so exceptional.

Her spirit is just so calming. 😊
