They brought me in early on to help with the game's story and characters. Then, like a bunch of teenagers at summer camp, stormed off to finish the job.

Congrats to Gordon Van Dyke, Alan Kertz, Angelica Norgen, and the rest of the team. I can't wait to play it and see it all come to life!

I chipped in a fun 5E character called the Dungeon Fixer—illustrated by the awesome Charlie Bates—which will automagically show up in the book's next update. Go check it out!

In addition, my kids and I are going to play a game of Munchkin in memory of our friend Andrew Hackard on Sunday at noon. We'll have some goodies from Steve Jackson Games to give away to attendees, and we'll be playing for donations to the Diana Jones Award in Andrew's name.

Bad Blood takes place right after Halo 5 and follows the story of Alpha-Nine, the fireteam that started out in Halo 3: ODST. It's told from the point of view of Eddie Buck, voiced by Nathan Fillion in the video games. Check it out on the cheap!

I chipped in two books in Bundle #2 . The first is the SHOTGUNS & SORCERY RPG, a Cypher System game based upon my fantasy noir novels. The second is a Pathfinder 1E conversion for the game that Owen wrote for me.

It’s been a wild ride, and I am one lucky guy.

But anyhow, go see the D&D movie. You’ll love it too! (Although maybe not as much as me.)

Today, that three-year-old writes gaming books with me. (Look for his work on our Shotguns & Sorcery 5E sourcebook and my upcoming Marvel TTRPG.) And I got to watch the D&D movie with my wife and three of those quadruplets (the other’s off in Ecuador for a term abroad).

I did much of my work on that book while sitting at my wife’s bedside, typing on one of those orange clamshell iBooks, while Marty snuggled up next to her. I got it to Wizards fast enough that they didn’t need someone else to step in.

“My wife is pregnant with quadruplets, and she’s in the hospital on full bedrest while I take care of our three-year-old son.”

He paused for a moment and then said, “You take all the time you need.”

I remember working on that book in 2002 well because as the deadline for it approached I had to contact my editor at Wizards of the Coast—Richard Baker—and tell him I was going to miss it. I remember Rich asking, “What’s up? You’re never late.”

The second was Szass Tamm and the Red Wizards of Thay. As part of my work on UNAPPROACHABLE EAST, I got to write up that section of the Forgotten Realms, building on the work that Ed Greenwood and others did before me.

The first was the aarakocra. There’s a pivotal twist in an early scene that I caught coming from miles away because I (like many D&D fans) know what an aarakocra is. It’s also because I wrote up their entry as a playable PC type in RACES OF FAERûN.

The pre-order comes with an exclusive token set, and it's $10 off the cost of the hardcover book. Plus, if you bought the Playtest Rulebook—which came out last April—knock another $10 off the price.

It's all due to unlock on August 2, the same day the game arrives in stores. Check it out!

Nathan Stewart and Jeremy Jarvis were credited as Wizards of the Coast Advisors, and I loved seeing Kim Mohan's name up there as Lore Master too! But if they mentioned Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson, or Ed Greenwood at any point, I missed it.

Plus, I loved seeing bits that I'd written up for 3E books like Races of Faerûn and The Unapproachable East get featured.

My minor quibble is that I don't think I saw the names of the creators of D&D and the Forgotten Realms (In which the film is set) on the screen at all.
