I wanted to make a little notions pouch with some fabric I wove. Looks nice, if a little lumpy, doesn't it? It doesn't work. I didn't account for the thickness of the fabric. I've only ever used this basic pouch pattern with quilting fabric. Lessons learned, I guess. #sewing #weaving

Here's this year's #piday bake. An apple pie, my first time doing pie crust with my hands instead of a pastry blender, and homemade chocolate pudding because 12 doesn't do pie.

12 did a "The eight dimensions of me" paper for health class and this was her "spiritual" entry. I am so proud.

12 was on Amazon and wanted a crocheted mushroom, but didn't want to pay shipping. I quickly said "Oh, I could make you something like that" (sorry, whoever's it was) and she agreed. So, obviously, I had to make a mushroom. Which I did. She decided it made a perfect octopus hat. #spoutibleknitting

Look! I finished my sweater! And I love it! The size is just right and I like having the knit side next to my skin, though I don't do stockinette as evenly as I could and it shows more with the purl side, which is too bad. #spoutibleknitting

I decided I can't let my cardigan get me down. Now on the needles: my first ever shawl using my lovely Christmas yarn from the girls (Araucania Huasco Sock kettle-dyed). #knittingspoutible

I wove mug rugs for a Ravelry swap. It's from a pattern in Handwoven Home, but not quite so enormous. The pattern made three, so I sent off two (completely failing to get a picture) and this one's ours. #weaving

I wove my first towels! They're going to my stepmother-in-law for Christmas. I'm going to make another set for my mom for Mother's Day. 12 says we also need some for us. #weaving

Guess what? Christmas gnomes are at least as cute as Halloween gnomes.

I'm at a play (we'll, set of four mini-) put on by 14's high school. I'm transported back to my own teenage years in the EEP Drama Society. Good times.

Finished the Luz hat (14 wore it to school today, with a matching tank top) and I'm back to my cardigan for a while before I get my Minecraft yarn. It doesn't look great, but this is it all in one piece, nearly done except for the sleeves and trim. Not that sleeves are insignificant. #knitting

Another hat. This one is for 12's flute and did not take nearly as much time as the others, despite taking three tries to figure out the brim. #knitting

This inspection report from the portable electric wheelchair we ordered for E does NOT fill me with confidence. Did they ever replace the missing parts??

I'm finishing up a package for a Halloween swap on Ravelry. My swappee loves gnomes. I've never been keen on them, but it turns out they're tons of fun to make. #crafting

Well, school starts tomorrow, and I didn't finish 12's sweater in time. I'm working on the last sleeve. She didn't think much of my suggestion that it would be a fashion statement. Fortunately it'll be 71 tomorrow so she won't miss a sweater. She's agreed to let me have until Monday. #knitting

12's desk was a lovely but heavy hutch that I hate moving. She, liking to rearrange her room approximately every two weeks, asked for a new one when we were at IKEA the other day. She picked out a nice light (and cheap) one. Today she put it together, all herself. Anybody need a hutch desk?

At Joann recently 14 found the perfect welcome mat. "And it explains our house rule! We have to put it out right now!"

"It's a Halloween mat," I objected. "It's August." Well, now it's September, and the girls have successfully argued that it's fall and therefore Halloween decor is allowed.

At my nephew's birthday today I worked on 12's sweater. Another nephew, whom I've made various things before, asked what it was. Soon he told me his favorite kaiju is Shin Godzilla, and it was a shame there was no plushie available. I can take a hint, and gladly. But have you seen Shin Godzilla?

The girls and I went to Powell's. I've blown my book budget until the holidays, but it was worth it. I deeply appreciate that Oregon doesn't have sales tax.

Here's 12's sweater so far. She picked a pattern I didn't like, but it's been surprisingly fun to knit. The only issue is the pattern is written for large women and 12 is still pretty elfin, so I've had to cut it down and I'll be making my best guess on armhole shaping. Wish me luck. #knitting

This is the stack of cookbooks I bought recently and haven't yet read. (No, it doesn't count as part of my TBR pile. They're cookbooks. It's different.) It's never gotten this high before. Admittedly, I got all but the last two on vacations. I do look forward to whittling it down.

And my sourdough starter is back online after a quiet month. At some point maybe I'll start baking from the four cookbooks I bought on vacation. But for now, old favorites: my standard sourdough and Rose Levy Berenbaum's Sourdough Wheat Bread with Seeds. #SpoutibleBakes

There! Two Cybernetic Narwhals for 13's robotics team's advisors. She's been on the team for three years and really valued it. I finished these during what should have been my walk at lunch today, but I had to work on them because I couldn't finish last night. Because I was reading. #sewing
