I don't either. Crypto is a "mainstay?" It's all bullshit! Currencies are vulnerable enough without all that garbage in the market.

I like how the fact-check nested with the original spout. I fact-checked this one, but only "challenge fact-check" was available on the original spout.

Couldn't read the whole article due to the paywall, but it's possible that he's still in the military because he's being investigated for violations of the UCMJ. If they kicked him out, they wouldn't be able to complete the investigation and/or prosecute him.

It's fun to guess, though. It could be almost anywhere, but I'm picking up an Anglo vibe ...? The door-inside-the-door could date it to the beginning of the last century maybe? The brickwork looks mid-19th century. It's a fort of some kind because that's basically a gatehouse.

We've all got our own experiences, of course - our own cultural exposures, or lack thereof. Mine says lots of people knew what was going on with the Jews in Germany prior the war starting, so I think there was a genuine sense that we collectively failed to protect them from a monstrous calamity.

This deserves a better answer than the first one I gave you. I do think our support for Israel was - in part - an effort to assuage our collective national guilt over the Holocaust. I don't know if that's objectively a good or bad thing, but I think it's factual.

I get that - I know that about you which is why I follow you :)

I also agree the Israeli response is a complete failure - I'm not going to compare that to Oct. 7 because I don't see how that helps anything.

Look, I don't pretend to have the answers, all I know is that sharply shifting our national policy away from Israel is not a simple thing to do, and it could have impacts on the future that we can't imagine. If you think Oct. 7 was bad ...

The world is often an ugly place and the solutions to problems are frequently imperfect. It's easy to take one side and pummel the other with criticism. It's much harder to seek peaceful solutions.

I don't know - I wasn't born yet and I wasn't there. I know that after the Holocaust, much of the Western world wanted the Jewish people to have a safe haven. I don't think there are enough parallels between American expansion/imperialism and the establishment of Israel.

One possible reason is that the US was the first to recognize the state of Israel as a sovereign nation and stood by them through the very tumultuous and dangerous few years as they were established and then repeatedly attacked by their neighbors. We are also tied economically.
