You never forget the tip of 9 cents and a religious tract. (This was 1973.) As are almost all former servers, I tend to be a big tipper. Even when service is bad, I look around to figure out if they’re short-staffed. I ask, “Short on staff today?” If yes, I still tip big.

I’m so old that we weren’t allowed to type our high school papers. They had to be handwritten, in cursive. This was Arkansas. If you had bad penmanship, it took points off your grade. It wasn’t until college that I learned to type.

As aware as I try to be, I know that, try as I might, the unconscious racist stereotypes will bubble up in my brain. I am deeply ashamed when I notice it myself, I try to do better. But I have little hope that despite my best efforts I will completely eradicate it in the days I have left on Earth.

I have run into that issue before. I’ve come to the conclusion that museums with very large collections don’t have all their works on their website. It takes awhile. They probably start with the most important works, the works on view, and then work their way down.

I read it in my mid-30’s. As an abuse survivor I found much to relate to. Also, I lived in Little Rock in 1969-1970 (high school) and learned some eye-opening things about entrenched racism that I was oblivious to as a white teenager. I’ve also learned about racism seeing the book banned in schools.

So true. The voucher won’t cover the whole cost for low-income parents. And does the school offer school buses? Probably not, so transportation can be a big issue. Do they offer SPED? Probably not, at least if they are “religious” schools, which are example from the ADA.

Can confirm. I live in Texas. I have rheumatoid arthritis. I’m immune compromised. I try to be careful. But, it’s difficult.

What I would actually like would be maybe the teary face emoji. And a comment praising Bonhoeffer. I don’t expect the the majority of my megachurch friends to make the connection between those other 2 German pastors & pastors today praising Trump. But, gee, it would be nice.

Horton Hatches the Egg. “I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant’s faithful 100%.” First Grade. I didn’t know my father was having an affair, that divorce was coming. But on some level, I must have known something was wrong. “An elephant’s faithful. 100%.”

Yup. I’m immune-compromised. And live in Texas. When I go to get an infusion, it’s not unusual for me to be the only person in the infusion room wearing a mask. That includes staff, not just patients.
