Ok, it's friday and nothing goes wrong on a friday! I get my pump disconnected and am hoping for a better weekend than my last one after infusions (days 3-5 are the worst, I'm told, and my last post infusion weekend was not fun).

But, Arsenal plays tomorrow and I'm looking VERY forward to 3pts

to support a fully functioning capitalist form of progress... I don't understand why so many people in this country are against basic human needs being met before unleashing the wild beast of capitalism. We need healthy competition for progress but we are too obsessed with abuse... 5/

My manager was understanding and offered more support, I'm not trying to throw them under the bus...it's just another side effect on the work environment of this 'rush back to work' culture. Even before this condition set in my voting and policy support was for a more socialist base... 4/

I sign in and the camera automatically pops up showing me in my zipper shirt allowing port access and my bed head. Client's spouse freaks out at my look and client quickly suggests we postpone then promptly calls my manager to have his account moved to another servicing agent... 3/

Work was pretty pissed at me y'day. I do high net worth property & casualty insurance (home/auto/liability/etc...). I had a zoom meeting for a clients renewal review scheduled at 8:30am and due to the whole no sleep ambulance issue I showed up 10 minutes late... 2/

Good morning, Spoutible, much better evening. Only had one episode like Wed. night and I seemed to be able to manage it by getting on my hands and knees and concentrating on controlled breathing... scary as hell but was milder than both Wed. episodes so I'll take it 1/

I felt bad for having the ambulance come and didn't feel like I needed to go to the hospital. about 2 hrs later it happened again but this time I concentrated on relaxing my body and breathing deeply. It seemed to stop it from progressing to the point of fear but it was no picnic none the less

I thought I was under a very real threat of losing the ability to breathe. My wife woke up and asked if I was ok and all I could get out was "no". She called an ambulance and as they showed up the intensity of the feeling had subsided enough that I wasn't internally scared for my life

I felt the need to stretch and as soon as I did all tissue in the trunk of my body gave a huge NOPE.... and what I can best describe as the most insane feeling of indigestion started. I stood up and tried to walk around until my limbs became so shaky and the feeling in my chest was so bad... 2/

Ok, well last night was interesting. Due to complications I've had that seem largely attributable to poor diet choices (gaseous foods like cabbage etc..) I had a simple meal of macaroni & cheese. Yes, not exactly nutritious but filling and simple.

Woke up around 1am, and it was not good... 1/

Should I type out the chemo/drugs I'm being given or is that some breach of something?

Strange muscle spasms in calves/thighs and uncontrollable clenching of jaw has started up. Jaw is mainly triggered by drinking anything colder than room temperature.

Also, odd bodily temperature changes (hot then cold, then hot...) but not too bad.

Chemo session 2 in the books... now home w/ my pump until it gets disconnected on Friday. Not as bad as session 1 but probably because I'm getting used to my body not feeling like I think it should and being familiar with the side effects

I also don't want to work till I drop after years of hoping to retire some day.

This is all very hard and I am just depressed, scared, and confused...

That said, time to buck up and get ready for chemo day 2 tomorrow!

Wish me luck

I went back to work last week and seriously believe that the stress of my job lead to my cold and I just don't know what to do.... I have good insurance and maxed out my short term/long term disability benefits.

While I don't want to 'plan' on dieing by going on disability... 5/

this means that it wasn't able to be contained and the cancer is floating around my body with a possibility to show up just about anywhere and it usually does.

What was most upsetting was the news that this kind of case just 5+ years ago would be a 6-9 months left to live. 4/

However, I wasn't prepared for the frankness of my condition. The doctor had a much better way of explaining things although the support facility wasn't as inviting so my wife and I agreed to stay with current doctor.

What I learned was that the two infected lymph nodes ... 2/

Good morning, Spoutible, hope you all had a great President's Day. Sorry for not posting. I've been recovering from a nasty cold all weekend.

I also had my second opinion meeting with a different oncologist y'day. I wasn't expecting much different in the way of diagnosis / plan 1/

Also, my descending colon had somehow wrapped itself over to the right side of my abdomen such that a urologist had to be called in. My 2hr surgery turned into a 6hr procedure with double resectioning.

I was in the hospital recovering for 4-5 days getting released on my birthday 1/4/23. Fin/

I get a bed for surgery 12/30 and am scheduled for a 2 hr resection to remove the tumor (which has been biopsied and came back as a metastatic cancer). Surgeon goes in and finds that one of my problematic lymph nodes has attached itself to the outside wall of my descending colon 4/

I've never needed any significant medical care and I'm a complete newsie so I'm immediately scared of what I have to face. However, I must say that my experiences to date I'd rate VA colon cancer care as high as possible...my surgeon was fantastic... 3/

I go to the colonoscopy on 12/6/22 and wake up to the doctor saying my wife is waiting in the side waiting room for me. Not a good sign. We find out that I have a mass (tumor) on my ascending colon. I'm immediately referred for a CT Scan and a surgeon. I see the surgeon 12/8 and CT Scan 12/9 2/

For those of you following this journey... this is how I got here:

Last summer, 50 y/o, I started feeling something odd in my lower right abdomen. I thought it was the start of something wrong w/ my appendix. I went to my primary care and he referred me for a colonoscopy...my first one 1/

Big day today... I'm supposed to be going back to work starting today. After the way I felt Sat/Sun there's no way on earth I can be of use to anyone. I woke up about 3am feeling a little more normal. Hoping this keeps up because the weekend made me want to quit this chemo journey...

Good morning!
I didn't post yesterday as it was my first full day after removing the chemo pump and I was not in good shape. My insides felt like I had the most gas build up of my life...super uncomfortable. My kidneys feel sore as well as my lower back. Sleep was fitful at best (2 hr intervals)

Day 3 and pump has been removed. Went for some corned beef and cabbage afterwards. Feeling decently enough, appetite is on the low side but not due to any nausea.

Looking forward to seeing Arsenal v. Brentford tomorrow.
