The seismicity is in white circles and shows the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and outline of the Caribbean Plate.
The Appalachian NE-SW trend is very old faults. As the ridge and plates continue to move, these old buried faults can be reactivated.

Iceland is formed by lava from the spreading Mid-Atlantic Ridge. I was on a field trip when the August 2022 lava eruption occurred.

Black Lives Matter had a profound effect on the weather and business channels.
I have seen more young Black and Hispanic men and women commentators than ever. Many had probably been waiting for years to get a chance. They are articulate and interesting.

After 35 inches of rain, on July 4th, 2002 a wall of water flooded over the spillway of the Canyon Lake damn in the Central Texas hill country.The deluge lasted 6 weeks and carved a gorge exposing 110 million year old dinosaur tracks, preserved in soft tidal flat muds; this one, a cousin of T Rex.

There are always a lot of westerns on tv, on Father’s Day. I loved them.
One of my favorite 1958 movies is The Big Country, Gregory Peck, Burl Ives, but Jean Simmons so good, wonderful huge western scenes, I always felt like I was there.

Llanite a “billion” year old rock found in Central Texas where the Llano uplift exposed old basement rocks at the surface.
I found this many years ago.
It features rare blue quartz crystals in pink granite. The mineral illmenite a titanium iron oxide gives the blue color.

In northern Turkey, the Anatolian fault is the site of two plates sliding against eachother, causing earthquakes. Unfortunately, this is where a lot of humanity lives, similar to the San Andreas.
