We have a 4'fer! The other buds have opened!
Texas Bluebells. I really had no idea these would be anything like this when I bought the 4-inch pot.
I just thought the leaves looked cool, almost succulent, light blue/green, and the flowers would probably be small and blue? 😅

I adore dragonflies, and seeing this gorgeous red Neon Skimmer in my garden really made my day! I had no idea that wasp was going to make a cameo — I don't think the Skimmer knew either! (There is a wasp inside that bamboo support stick) #gardening #nature

Well I think we have a new cat 😅 I was glad to see his ear was tipped, meaning he has been neutered and vaxxed .
He has been hanging around for a month or so and seems quite young by how small and playful he is - about a year old? Poor thing was hunting bugs to eat so...

All kinds of peppers! Well, 3 kinds: 'El Jefe' jalapeños, 'Cajun Belles,' and Guajillos. I've already used a homegrown tomato and a jalapeño for some homemade salsa! #gardening is so very rewarding!

A 2 inch pot of mini African Violets - the flowers are purple in real life but the photo makes them look more blue. The leaves are slightly fuzzy and the flowers are small but perky.

I went to Florescence, a major flower show by the Garden Club of Houston/America with my grandparents today, and it was awesome! It was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. There were arrangements inspired by paintings and sculptures, potted plants, all kinds of good stuff! Pics incoming!

It's almost 9pm right now and my husband is watering the garden. They absolutely do not need to be watered but I'm not going to rain on his plant parade. He's in so deep 😂 These are some of his lovely flowers. I mostly have potted succulents/cacti.

My husband wasn't thrilled with the idea of me bringing the Monarch cats in for the night so they will be living in the garage with the grow lights and Lithops etc 🙏 If I kept them on the porch I would go crazy worrying if a wasp was after them. This is night 2. Just checked and all is well!

Picture of the caterpillars I'm keeping in my garage. There are 6 leafy milkweed plants in a white bin on a white chair. The caterpillars are on the leaves, eating, sleeping, pooping, and repeating that routine.

Y'all wanna see a crazy before after of my backyard? When we moved in, this corner was nothing but soggy, gross clay and sad "grass." Houston is notorious for what is called 'Gumbo soil' because it's so high in clay. This area was lower than the rest of the yard so it would pool and never dry out 1/

Muddy area of yard taped off in preparation for a concrete slab.
