Special elections almost always have lower turnout than midterms (which are lower than presidential years).
So, a Dem candidate getting mid-term # of votes in a special election suggests at worst a massive enthusiasm gap. And at best a major swing in overall partisan bias amongst the electorate.

From the last I've seen of RNC's finances, the money "isn't" coming from anywhere anymore.
In an age where politics are widely assumed to favor the highest bidder, conservatism is broke.

Unfortunately, even if SCOTUS upholds this it won't necessarily be enough to prompt the GOP to dump him.
As long as he's on the ballot in enough places to win 270 EV's, being off the ballot in blue states like CO and NY doesn't matter... just gives conservatives one more thing to be mad about.

That is a weird coincidence.... I'm doing a vegetarian version of this (with homemade seitan and chickpeas) for dinner tonight!

This is a match for my alarms, haha. Early workout at my gym (a "turkey burn" to help earn the feast) followed by 8 hours of cooking to have everything ready that isn't already prepped.
I am excited and apprehensive all at once.

Interestingly, my go-to substitute for pasta sauces (like my vodka alla penne) & soups isn't on this list at all.

Get 1 block of silken tofu. Add 1 cup of your preferred plant "milk". Puree them together. Makes ~3 cups of "cream", except with ~20% of the calories of the regular stuff.

Midwestern democrats are so incredibly based lately. I wish the WA Dems were even half this competent. Best we can do in Seattle is a mile of rail lines per year, at a hundred million dollars per mile.

I found this cornbread & chorizo dressing recipe a few years ago that is the absolute most delicious take on dressing/stuffing ever. It's practically pushed the turkey aside as the centerpiece at my household's dinner.

As someone a little older.... thank y'all for figuring out how important this fight is. Took my generation too long to get over the nihilist compulsion and find the importance of voting.

In strong Dem-leaning states, there's no reason to do it. Letting him run when he's guaranteed to lose in say, WA, just stops the GOP from considering alternatives. And the press resulting from it would just tick off his cultists for a bad mix of "more ballot turnout" & "more domestic terrorism."

The combination of this and Beshear winning re-election is making me real damn proud of my old stomping grounds around Cincinnati tonight. OH and KY both proving they're better than their worst stereotypes.

It's the unfortunate truth that "this issue is complicated" is a take a lot of people don't want to hear. And that's been made especially apparent in the age of social media.

This is relatable as hell. I like reading articles on stuff still, but it's just frustrating to engage with media a lot of the time these days, and feeds my sense of ennui.

I envy this garden! I've been consistent with the watering, sparing-but-consistent use of fertilizer, and a fairly mild summer in the PNW. And everything died except for the tomatoes (which currently have blossom end-rot creeping in).

This guy *points at self* just has two black thumbs, lol

Strong agree. We can do without instant delivery of some packages for a few weeks. Folks dying of heatstroke can't do without forcing negotiation to "not" die of heatstroke

My understanding of the phrase:
The Customer is always right about what the Customer wants.
The Customer is usually wrong over whether it's possible to get what they want.

Seriously- I'm an American with a diet that is only healthy by American standards... and that looks atrocious. I kinda want to just start spamming recipe links on how to make real food, for you.
