I recall a convo w/ friends during lockdown whether the architecture and building construction sectors would seize the opp to overhaul the ventilation systems in housing and office design to save lives. We concluded it would take gov public health intervention to do so and make it profitable.

SARS-CoV-2 is more stable in air containing high levels of CO2, typical of poorly ventilated indoor spaces. This means it lasts longer and is more likely to infect people. Even a moderate rise in CO2 results in a significant increase in the risk of disease transmission.

Such a great community asset.
Our local community garden sends their harvests to area shelters and food banks. They want to do more if they could get more volunteers.

Professor Kyle @blackcatproseVery cool. All 40 beds at the community garden Taproot runs are full, which might be a first! 10 beds are being used by a group that works with veterans. https://www.taprootnh.org/...10:10 PM - May 16, 2024

When hiring someone (and we are by voting), don't focus on specific answers. Look for characters, a reasonable person with good faith who does not talk down people around them.
Learned it from my staff who were much smarter than I.

Andrew Garrison @AndrewthemovieguyYeah, there are things Biden could have done better and could do better on even now. There are things i oppose vehemently. Still, He is absolutely the person I will vote for in November. Because for any number of situations he remains the best option to help the most amount of people.09:25 PM - May 15, 2024

Yep, me too. As a workaround, I am bookmarking the spouts I want to expand my reading (threads or replies). After I am done scrolling my TL, I'll go to Bookmarks to check on each and "remove bookmark" when I am done with it.
It works for me so far.

Yes. All perennial and all native, including the roses. In this part of my L-shape native perennial garden are Texas Rock Rose, Hummingbird Bush, Texas Sage, and Butterfly Bush. Not blooming at that time are Mexico Marigold Mint, Moonshine Yarrow, and Native Prairie Verbena. I love them all.

There are so many, but currently ... roses from my garden. I like the varieties I have right now: Mother of Pearl, Belinda's Dream, Chrysler Imperial, Beverly Eleganza, and Soul Sisters. They will continue blooming until frost.

I have always thought this Buckley's version the best among all covers of Cohen's Hallelujah. Devastating, haunting

In 1994 Jeff Buckley released a beautiful cover of this 1984 song by Leonard Cohen. Buckley was inspired by John Cale's earlier cover...

And here I am, feeling alone and trying to fight this sense of being an outcast on Spoutible since I became active in February. Guess I haven't been that alone after all. Thank you for speaking what I was feeling.
Karl S the Typo King @KarlSI feel like I haven’t been posting much, I probably haven’t, I’m dealing with that “I don’t belong anywhere” feeing. A lot of the talk here is about politics, which while important mostly just pisses me off. I don’t want to unfollow people, but I can’t be inundated with it all the time.02:38 PM - May 14, 2024

D-31. One more month and our WWH Jin of #BTS will finish his military service. Originally scouted at a bus stop in college for his visual (rumored to have the ideal proportional face of a Greek god), he has a vocal of emotional acting. “Yours” (Jirisan OST, 2021) is by far his best at storytelling.

Devoting our entire bandwidth to constant horrible noise runs the risk of being desensitized into paralysis.
How about we free up our own bandwidth, one day a week, for something different? Can we find one good thing people are doing for the local community, and thank them or help them? Just one.

AI can apply complex rules consistently (e.g., Grammarly) and can synthesize a huge amount of information correctly and quickly beyond human capacity. This is what I like about Accuracy Alerts. Given quality sources of information, It can be a tool in Spoutible to reduce human information overload.
Christopher Bouzy @cbouzyAnd yet you see Accuracy Alerts working extremely well, and it will only get better from here. Humans can't fact-check thousands of posts a minute in real-time. So by the time the claim is fact-checked by a human, it will already be seen by thousands. 🤷🏾♂️09:09 AM - May 11, 2024

So many times when a guest comes into the lobby of the nonprofit with their pet, there is a calming effect not only for the guest but also people around them. There would be a smile or two, and you can hear someone saying "Hi, cutie" to the pet.
✨Witchy Woman✨ @wicked_wiccan76Now THIS is wonderful! Not allowing pets at shelters is cruel and fucked up and why ppl end up on the street.
It's why I ended up on the street. I lost everything and now you expect me to give up my dog for a bed in a public shelter? Fuck that.05:13 PM - May 10, 2024Mariska Hargitay Joins Effort to Make Domestic Violence Shelters Pet-Friendly So Families Can 'Heal Together'
