That's a nice feature. I think on Twitter a lot of people get around the retweet thing by quote tweeting, which is helpful.

Can you turn off all retweets on Twitter? I've just been doing it user by user based on what and how frequently they retweet.

Go ahead and roast and dunk on the trolls, but people expressing genuine opinions, maybe give them a little grace, imagine what they might actually mean by their statements, and not jump to a worst reading of something.

And maybe someone doesn't want to do a 20 part thread about the nuances of their opinion.

When I see people you know trying to dunk ungenerously on other people I know, the problem became crystal clear.

There are true trolls & $itposters, but most users are not that...not yet..

I had retweets turned off on about half of the people I followed. It also motivated me to quote-retweet so that it would show up as from me.

A lot of my retweets were to boost a tweet up the algorithm. If the algorithm is less important, that should be needed less?

If the ranking and recommendation algorithm goes open source, what's to prevent hackers from making it do all sorts of nonsensical things?

Chris went beyond that. He polled initial users. It isn't just his company, it's a community.

What Elon has done is really bad because he hijacked a community by buying it. Chris is doing something good by engaging the community to build itself.

The best online spaces are heavily moderated. Letting everything in and then trying to prune does not work

I hear the plight of SW looking for a space, they need to realize that NSFW content turns off a lot of users.

The community needs to decide how to balance it.

I disagree. Starting with the idea of 'allow everything' and then decide what not to let in does not work as well as 'what do we want to focus on'.

Forcing people to jump through hoops (filter/block/mute) to make a safe experience is what Bouzy wants to avoid.

My circles always seemed to overlap a lot less than other people's. It's hard to maintain a lot of non-intersecting circles.
