What is the biggest obstacle to learning a language?

Memory work?
Grammar?
Shyness?
Time?
Money?

😄
Can you break that down into what is hard?

Or does it just feel like all of it as a while is hard?

depends on the age
when young, you´ve got the memory and the time, but hate the grammar and shy from a strange language melody
when middle-aged, you´ve got the money, but no time, while everything else could be coped with.
when old, you´ve got the money (hopefully) and the time, but lack the memory

Have you learned another language?
Or have you attempted?

It all rings true. Is this from personal experience?

I am German, learned English and French (can understand a little bit, but not speak) in school, had a short try at Italian (too short to leave an impression) in university. Learned norwegian later on (understand a lot, speak a little bit), and later realized that I could read Swedish and Danish, too

So a lot of experience with language learning, clearly.

I do love it when studying one or two language gives you a related language for "free", or at least a "discount".

Do you feel you improved at language learning with gained experience?

I feel that I have. Time is a challenge for sure

I admit that I left out Latin. But it is essential to answer your question. I didn´t like Latin very much, but the structured approach to Latin grammar gave me a toolkit to understand how grammar works, not only in Latin but in other languages, too. Thus the rocky road of Latin smoothed the path.

I couldn't agree more!
I did Latin on my own. My style may have been unconventional. I'm not sure. But, yes. It helped me understand so much about grammar in general.
