Hey #Spoutible fam! Have any of y’all read Good Intentions by Kasim Ali? Just finished it a couple days ago and thought it was a refreshing take on the intersections of mental health, racism, and culture. It touched on the nuances of colorism and how easy it is to slip into complacency. Thoughts?

I haven't yet! The description looks like a book I'd love! The reviews in Goodreads are all over the place- I guess it's a love-it-or-hate-it kinda book?

I think so! It’s a pretty easy read, and not earth-shattering by any means, but I thought it was a unique take bc I haven’t read many books with a South Asian male lead struggling with prioritizing his relationship vs cultural expectations. It was relatable for me as a mixed person. 😊

Got it! To me, it's always worth reading a unique perspective. Not every book has to have super-heavy prose for it to be good/enriching!
