Our first #Monarch released this season was a lady. Five more will be ready to go tomorrow morning. I have gathered 100 eggs/cats allowed under the MNRF/TEA permit and my #milkweed is still full of caterpillars. Wonderful year for Monarchs in NW Ontario!

Sadly, here in NorCal it’s been too cold. I’ve seen 2 adults but none near my milkweed yet.

That's so very sad. Southern Ontario hasn't had many yet this season either.

hope the enclosed and the outside caterpillars have good survival. The couple of native plant sellers here (many many km west of you) have sold out of their milkweed plants already so maybe lots of folks want to #plantmilkweed

I did this for awhile in California before our state passed a law making it illegal to have enclosed habitats. Nature has to be allowed to take its own course here.

How do you safely detach a chrysalis and secure to a rope without damaging it? I tried but the cremaster wasn't always long enough.
