Number 88 on my list of most listened to #artists is a band that's been around for 50 years or more - Asleep at the Wheel. First heard on the World's Greatest Radio Station, KFAT in Gilroy, California. Here's one of my favorites! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPNdcSqI0fo

Sadly, I must respectfully disagree. The greatest radio station was 93.3, WMMR in Philadelphia. They somehow had permission to record big-name acts live at venues all over the city. They played these cuts often, and called the collection the MMRchives.

Imagine…all those unreleased live recordings…

Ha ha! It looks like we've got a fight on our hands (a friendly, respectful fight)! While I just looked up my favorite bootleg site and found Fat favorites Tom Waits, Bonnie Raitt, and others recorded live on WMMR, I'll stand by KFAT - as they used to say, Thin may be in, but Fat's where it's at!

KFAT sponsored weekly Fat Frys - Fatheads got in for a Fat Buck & these shows were recorded & played live the following week. Doc Watson, The Sir Douglas Quintet, The Blasters, & in 1979, Stevie Ray Vaughan appeared at Fat Frys. Sounds like WMMR was pretty great, though looking at the live shows.
