Putting safety features behind a paywall is pure fuckery. This is your gentle reminder that 19 March is a good day to make #Spoutible your new home.

What's an authentication app and security key? I'm old. Thanks.

I have all programs and most accounts with two factor auth. Notice it's just for text. Wonder if you can use email instead.

The security key is like a password twitter will give you that you can use to recover your account. The key is only shown to you once and never again so you need to securly save it

In this case, a security key is a piece of hardware (like a YubiKey) with a unique signature that is used as a second way to authenticate after your password.

It's very secure, but not a lot of people would have one.

I saw something in their help say it's on a USB device. That's confusing. Or, is that just an option? How you plug a USB into a phone?

An authenticator app is something you put on your phone that generates a rolling code that you can use to log into your sites, I like it personally and it is quite secure because the code changes every 60 seconds.

For example, you add the Google authenticator app to your phone from the Google Play or Apple App store. You add your Twitter account to the authenticator app. When you log into Twitter, you use the code from the authenticator app as your second factor intstead of one that gets texted to you.
