I’ve been both Parent With Crying Child and Passenger Sitting Next To Crying Child on a long flight.

Give ‘em a break. It’s not like they’re pinching the poor kid or encouraging it.

The eyeroll or look of disdain is not helping and just makes you look like an ass.

Any parent on a plane with a screaming or crying child is dying of embarrassment and doing the best they can.

Exactly. And you’re an adult. Pop on those headphones, have a drink, chill.

I’ve pulled snacks from my briefcase (after asking parents if it’s OK) and shared with a crying child, pulled out a notepad and markers, made silly faces/played peek-a-boo with a baby or whatever.

I’ll take a crying baby over an entitled ass who thinks they belong in 1st Class on any flight.

This! You help because it can be really hard. My dad once helped a mom flying by herself with a newborn, he offered to hold the baby during takeoff, and the poor woman fell asleep. She napped for about 30 minutes, was horrified when she woke up though. My dad had a great time with that kid.
