This is really the worst possible action you could take. You're punishing the wait staff for a policy they had no say in creating.

If you don't like the policy, tip your waiter as you normally would, and then ask to see the manager/owner.

It doesn't take a lot to get a 15% tip from me.

Just give me decent
o taste
o presentation
o service
o value
o cleanliness

BUT, if your payment machine has a minimum suggested tip of more than 15%, then I am always going to select "other" and manually enter a tip of zero.

💯 percent agree, it's not the wait staff's creation
Also, if it's a "suggested" tip of any amount, as in more than the 15% someone usually tips, then just tip the 15% - it's that simple, y'know?
