BUT, if your payment machine has a minimum suggested tip of more than 15%, then I am always going to select "other" and manually enter a tip of zero.

The stance “if you can’t tip 20% don’t go out to eat” seems wrongheaded. If restaurants feel that strongly they can add a required gratuity. Many places do this for large parties. Tipping is classist; mandatory gratuity would at least take customers out of the fight between workers and owners.
