Why is it called a building when it is already built? Emphasis on “ing”.

So, when it is under construction, we say, We're building the building. And when it's completed, we still call it a building.

Pardon me, my English is rusty.🤣

In response to Ola.
It is a gerund: a noun formed from a verb and having an -ing ending. So we build a structure and that structure is called a building. #6thgradegrammar #EnglishGrammar #askateacher

Or, we build a building, and that building is called a building.
