First, a great discussion about the ways that some faculty (most, in this study) avoided talking about race when asked to explain the underrepresentation of racially minoritized students in STEM. From this paper by Tatiane Russo-Tait.

Next, we discussed how some instructors do not acknowledge race as a factor in the events in their classrooms, and potential solutions. Paper by Gretchen King, Tatiane Russo-Tait, and Tessa Andrews.

Many thanks to the Chemistry PhD students who chose these papers and led the discussion, and to the students who candidly and in some cases bravely shared their experiences and perspectives. Change starts with learning and education.
