Cancer is a word that shakes ppl to their core. Rightfully so. However, cancer itself is just a normal process of a cell division gone wrong.

Instead of canceling bad DNA it keeps replicating. Still surprised sometimes there hasn't been a cure for this yet. #Spoutible #health

Except that there are so many types of cell and so many damned mutations

Terry Tempest Williams, in her beautiful nonfiction book Refuge, uses the idea of natural change (including destruction) to come to terms with her mother's terminal cancer.

The alphabet soup of mutations is stunning, not just TP53, GNAS, KRAS, and BRAF, but peculiar BRAF (I had K601E, not the "typical" V600E), plus there's HER2, SGL1, Myc, cyclins, B2M, BRCA ...

Epithelial cells, spindle cells, acinar cells, goblet cells, follicular cells, B cells ...

Crazy.
