Heard this from a lot of 30-something Black students (mostly male, actually) when I worked adult ed back between 2002-2012. I asked them if it bothered them, and they said, "yeah, but I know I have to do this to do better, so it only bothers me so much." I felt better, after that.

I was in middle school the first time I heard this. A classmate said it to one of my friends, and I don’t know if I had the presence of mind to keep my unmelanated mouth shut, or if I was too bewildered to ask, “What does THAT mean?”

I think we were nerding out over Pokémon cards. :(

Well... with the recent behavioral displays by certain groups of white people I think it's safe to say 'acting white' is not a display of superior intelligence over anybody or anything. Black excellence stands on its own.
