Mid-90s, early days for Internet access in the library. A boy, about 10, has a scrap of paper with a gaming site web address. Only it was off a bit and the handwriting was bad. So, something like "game pages" looked like "same ages." Poor kid got my attention. He was mortified

at non-stop cascading pop-ups (remember those?) of porn. He couldn't stop it, and I knew clicking Xs wasn't going to cut it. The power buttons were farther from me than the power outlet, so I just unplugged the PC. Choice between kid and proper shut down? Kid, every time.

Yeah. It was another few years before we had dedicated kids' computer stations with filtering software and educational games installed on them.
