I am still very open to the idea of replacing the heart and "like."

I remembered in the early ideas that spun into #Spoutible , @cbouzy had floated the idea of having a button which expressed empathy more eloquently than a LIKE does. Guess it didn’t work out, but I’m with you on that one. However even a hug from a stranger can be welcomed in tragic times. 🌟

Thank you!
I’m sure the community will have thoughts on the matter, so perhaps a poll or survey down the line would help us find something the majority would support. 🍓

I really want the heart tap feedback to be faster. The 2-4s delay is painful

I'd like to see each of the icons replaced with some kind of clever whale version. So a whale spouting a trash can from his blowhole, a whale doing an echo, a whale scribing (for quote), a whale doing a heart shape with his side fins for like, a whale doing a hug shape with his fins for emphathy...

Just a simple star that boosts the post would be elegant. Stars could rise up from the notifications icon in real time if you wanna get fancy.

Often when you “like” something what you really want to to is boost the viability of the post. Maybe you could use an eyeball with an arrow pointing up or something like that?

Liking, no matter what we call it, doesn't boost visibility. There is no algorithm here. You boost visibility by commenting or echoing.

What about a 'high fin' or a 'fin slap'?

I tend to "like" everything, regardless of what I think of the content of the post, but because I appreciate that it was posted.

It would be nice to have options other than a heart, like it is on FB.

I use the heart/like as an acknowledgement of a spout for the spouter.
It's an 'I See You & Your Spout deserves to be acknowledged.'

Alt: Symbol for empathy. Circle with Two Ys laying on their side facing each other, but offset. Symbolizes two people reaching out to try to understand one another.

How about a simple check mark?
It conveys that the spout has been seen and acknowledged as well as a 'like'.

Probably don't want too many but thumbs up, thumbs down, handshake/high five, and hug might cover most things?

There's two kinds of hugs though. I know using emojis there was the yellow friendly smiling hug or the blue double person one for empathizing/being supportive

I sometimes want to acknowledge a post without giving it a heart (if the story is hard to hear or tells the story of a victim). We need an "I support you" instead of a "like" or "heart"

Excellent - for me, the heart button isn't always appropriate for a 'like' with something that indicates 'interesting' ... definitely not interested in a bunch of options that make this place too Facebook-y

What if the heart begins to fill in, darker and darker red as more and more people “like” a post ?
