Random question: is it okay to cook stew meat in a crockpot? Or would an actual stew pot or Dutch oven be better?

Stew meat is great in a crockpot. Just brown it first and cook it low and slow.

My husband has definitely stewed meat in our crock pot, and it's delicious. We have an Instant Pot now, which has even more options and can make stew faster.

It absolutely works well in a slow cooker. I prefer to use a dutch oven or braiser if time allows. My secret ingredient in stew is a spoonful of a product called Better Than Bouillon.

Ok. Reason I asked is because I have stew meat in my freezer and I plan to make a stew with it and I didn't know if a crock pot would work or not.

You can - but I think it tastes better if you brown the meat first and only use the low temp setting so the meat doesn’t overcook and get dry.

You could always google it to be sure, but I think you can cook it in a crockpot.
