Please use Twitter/X cautiously.

The upcoming software updates of Twitter/X will go well beyond the personal data grab of Threads.

Musk is redesigning Twitter/X to take complete control over your smartphone in ways that are illegal.

Be careful using X.
Be careful.
Be careful.

I am so glad I erased all of my data on Twitter before I permanently closed my account months ago. This is exactly what I was afraid of - that and Musk being a fascist!

I had fears of this kind of thing when I first started using a smart phone. It's why I don't access social media on it. (My phone is for texts/calls/photos--and occasional navigation--only.)

You're smart, Diana. I have Twitter/X on my phone and will be removing it soon. I hope it isn't too late to keep my personal data from Musk.

X's all over the top of my phone already.
Time to disengage... how to do so safely??

Julie, I'm not a programmer so I am on the hunt for that info as well. 🧐

What is the best way of exiting X/Twitter without allowing any future users to use your handle there? I think it would be deactivation without permanently closing the account you are abandoning. Any advice? Thanks.

Just to clarify, does this apply just to their app (which I have never used) or their mobile website as well?

I came here also to ask this question. i think it must be the app. otherwise this would be a virus.

I have it relegated to an old iPad that has nothing else in it and never leaves my house. I strongly expect Musk to start tracking and selling geolocation data for users.

Or, better yet, DON'T USE X.

Seriously- I would not for one second put it past Musk to spy on you through your phone and then either through bumbling incompetence or deliberate malice send everything to a pornographer.
