Let's talk about historical fiction. Do you read it? Hate it? Do you have a favorite era or setting or author you look for? Do you like hybrid genres like historical fantasies or historical mysteries?

I don't go looking for historical fiction, but it always seems to find me anyway! Sometimes spooky—like Laura Purcell. Sometimes adventurous, like Dorothy Dunnett or Patrick O'Brian. The Crystal Cave series by Mary Stewart was probably my first historical crush, as a teen. (Gotta re-read that!)

What a great list! So many major award winners and best-sellers. Probably something for everyone here!
