Are you making waves again? That's annoying that you aren't getting any clarification on the reason for beach-ment.

You missed out on the drama! I'll DM ya.

Welcome back from your camping trip. I trust all went well!

Thanks! Yes, we had a great time swimming in a lake during the day and looking for shooting stars at night (campfires were banned). We also avoided the worst heat wave of the year and wildfire smoke in the unhealthy range. Our timing could not have been better.

And yes, spill the gossip, please.

That sounds delightful and relaxing. Very much the way we do things here as well - no campfires during times of bushfire alert.

Do you have yabbies/freshwater crustaceans in your lakes? Their claws are nasty (NB @bron1us )

No yabbies that I know of. There are some crayfish in streams (many more in the south), but nothing much to worry about in the lakes here.

Bears are more of a concern, so we have to store any food in the car overnight.

Jeez! At least that's something we don't have to worry about here.

Any photos? Also of a bear? Ever encountered one?

I think I have some pictures of crayfish I took a few years ago, but the only photos of bears I have are of grizzlies at a WA State research facility.

I had a couple of encounters with grizzly bears when growing up in Montana, once as a boy scout (long story) and once when camping with the family.

We were tent camping. The campground had a bear trap, probably because they were having bear issues. That night, the family dog woke us up growling. We heard a bear grunting and knocking over garbage cans. The next morning he was in the trap, so we got a very close look at him. Unforgettable 😳

Ha! Well, Montana has all of the above, but this was a grizzly bear, which is a large brown bear. They are considered more unpredictable and more likely to attack humans than black bears are.

I hope never, ever to encounter a grizzly. Ever. I mean, it would eat me for breakfast. I've seen videos where you are supposed to stand still and let them sniff you??? What if they like your smell? Would they eat you? Do they like human flesh? North America is sooo dangerous @bron1us

😂 No Jess not the same. Here we are more likely to sit you in front of the television than a bear, granted, that can be pretty terrifying too.

But Australia keeps coming up with a giant version of scary things🤭
