Is there any legal reason that reproductive rights/abortion can't be put to a national vote at a given national election? Or state elections for that matter? Any legal eagles out there have an answer?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't a State just do this recently?

Yes… I don’t remember the state but they voted to uphold abortion rights and the right to choose. It was because there was a law on the books in that state to make abortion illegal the moment Roe v. Wade was overturned, if I remember correctly.

Thank you! I was sure there was a State which I also can't remember. Why can't/don't all States do the same?

Here in Washington we passed Initiative 120 back in the 1990s after Clarence Thomas was confirmed. It protected abortion rights and also protected minors from having to get parental permission. There are lots of states where people are fighting to keep abortion legal or to gain that right back.
