As a New Yorker, jaywalking is not only my right but my civic duty - one I embrace wholeheartedly, and at which I excel. #mondaythoughts #NYC

I grew up in a small NY town and we didn't even have crosswalks. I like the way the breeze from passing vehicles makes my clothes flutter.

Many, MANY years ago, when we lived in NYC, my mom actually got a ticket for jaywalking. Amazing!

Omg really? Who was Mayor? Was it Bloomberg? Because that schmuck is the only Mayor I can remember trying to enforce that shit and boy were we pissed off!

I taught my kids how to jaywalk safely, since they needed to know. Also: if they had the walk light, they needed to make sure that there was no car turning into the crosswalk -- and if there was, they needed to stop and make sure the driver made eye contact. If not, stay stopped and wait to go.
