You would wait for a page to load, and someone would pick up the other phone, start dialing, and sever the connection. Or if you had call-waiting and forgot to deactivate it, someone calling you would cause a disconnect. 😭

The cost for internet access was insane too.

I remember having to pay $1 per MINUTE back in '95, plus, our small town didn't have an ISP, so we had LONG DISTANCE charges added to that. I still remember a $3k internet bill one month😬

You really had to preplan your time on the internet back then to make the most out of every minute, and slow loading sites were seen as just plain evil

I still have that mindset😂
