Missing this little one more with each passing day. She was as sharp as a tack and was my Velcro dog for over 14 years. These 4 months without her have been peaceful with no more suffering yet have felt somewhat hollow. Hard to describe.

I am trying to mentally prepare for this inevitable feeling when my very senior friend passes over the rainbow bridge. 😌

You don’t truly prepare. I thought I had. Her passing was peaceful and she was eating chocolate until the end but I wanted it to happen at home and in familiar surroundings instead of at the emergency vet. BUT, they had a very comfy room set up with a jar of chocolates!

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s amazing that so much unconditional love is built into a companion animal.

I TOTALLY understand. There are times I still think I see my dogs out of the corner of my eye

There are those that believe that those peripheral vision sightings are actually them visiting. I happen to believe and while I haven’t been blessed with one from Ruby (yet anyway), I did have it happen once with my 5 yo beagle that I lost to lymphoma.
