Fun Rosh HaShana fact: On the Jewish calendar, the next year starts on the first day of the seventh month. It’s like 2024 starting on July 1.

The first month (the equivalent of January) is the month containing Passover—celebrated on the 15th day of that month, coinciding with a full moon.

Because the “next day” in the Jewish calendar always begins after sundown (vs. midnight) the new year begins tonight around 7:00.

Fun discussion question from the Talmud (a collection of discussions spanning hundreds of years):

Q: When does day become night?

A: When you can no longer tell the difference between a dog and a wolf.
