This may be more of a SoCal thing, but I remember the Helms Bakery truck coming onto our block and the longing —O!M!G! the! longing!— at the donuts that we could see from the slide-out drawers. Was jealous of neighbor kids whose moms would buy them donuts.

We had an ice cream bike. Someone actually pedalled around neighborhoods on a bike with a built in freezer for popsicles etc. When we heard that bike bell, everyone scattered to run home for change to get an ice cream. #GoodTimes #summertime #FeelingNostalgic

Yes, and the money went into that little coin holder on the person's belt, and they'd issue change by pressing the tiny levers to spit out, say, a nickel after you'd given them a dime to pay for a 5¢ item.
