Anyone have any idea what this means? My wife scraped her front on the curb when parking once a while back and this has been dragging since.

That appears to be the sacrificial rock guard that protects the underside of your engine compartment from a rock coming up and destroying things.
likely got cold and brittle, caught on a curb, and snapped.

If you can wedge it back under, that would be better than nothing.

How sacrificial? The replacement part is about $25, plus a bunch of those stupid body clips that are impossible to take out without breaking.

With a mechanic's lift, it's easily an hour job.

Without one, it's a couple hours plus profanity because of clearance.

Happy to help. I've broken my fair share of them when I was stationed in WV, so I feel your pain.

But it is something you want to get fixed sooner than later. Without one, the only thing to take the impact is your engine or radiator.

And that'd probably total out the car.

I told her what you showed me and she said her dad fixed it for her this afternoon like I suggested at first 😝
