What’s calming to the nervous system? Linear vestibular movement- back and forth. Feeling stressed? Get yourself to a rocking chair, glider, porch swing- heck find a swing on a playground! Back and forth, back and forth! And lots of breathing - in through the nose-out through the mouth = calm. ❤️

Also never judge someone you see rocking in public. Self regulation is what they’re after.

My first born was hard to soothe as an infant. I often found myself standing and rocking her back and forth with my entire body movement to work best. It only worked if I was standing. I continued this through child #2 and 3 grandkids. To this day I automatically start swaying if I hear a baby cry.

Love it. Me too! I miss having an excuse having no babies around so sometimes I just do it because I need it. 😉
