"Women who choose to remain child-free say they still feel like they constantly have to explain their choices to others"

I settled on: "I couldn't think of a reason to have kids."

So much emphasis on what reasons people have *not* to have kids.

Why not ask reasons *to* have them?

I read the headline and thought “no explanation needed”.

True, indeed.

The self-righteous nevertheless interrogate.

Kids today cannot escape being infected with covid at daycare or school. Their lives will be negatively affected. Also,
We’ve destroyed their climate.

People definitely have factored in concerns about public health, environmental health, climate, food supply, water supply, and ecological sustainability.

I wonder if any one thinks any of those are reasons *to* have children 🤔

I had similar responses. One woman said I was selfish. I don't regret my decision for one second.

I knew from an early age I didn't want kids and for some reason that pisses a lot of people off

Doesn't it, though?
And they feel perfectly justified in judging us and interrogating us. "I couldn't think of a reason to" tends to shut them up because they don't know what to do with that.
