I have yet to see a better ship overall than the one I've made here.

Class A engines give it a max speed of 150
Yet it has 3000 cargo, and 91 Mobility
Not to mention, a ton of weaponry for disabling and boarding ships, even turrets for when I need indiscriminate ship combat.

I'll do a thread.

First, let's talk philosophy.

My ship is designed to be a do it all space RV. It has all the crafting benches, a bed, room for 4 crew members, no ladders to deal with, and the towers allow me to game the mechanics a little bit and actually survive space battles on Very Hard difficulty.

...continued philosophy.

Part of that need is a lot of cargo. This makes weight management a priority. Since I'm limiting myself to Class A engines for that top speed, my ship can only weight so much and still be maneuverable. 3000 cargo is pretty massive for a Class A ship with this agility.

...and yes, it has some shielded cargo.

Speed is provided by 6 Slayton Aerospace SA-4330 engines. You'll need ship design rank 4 to purchase these, but if you complete the Freestar Rangers questline you'll get the Star Eagle ship which gets you 4 of these to start with.

I've gone many Class A, B and C reactors to get to this point, wanting to have maximum jump range, means you need a class C grav drive if you want to jump 3000+ cargo 30LY, so the Dogstar SF40 Sheard Flow Reactor powers the ship.

This reactor provides 40 power, 41 with Vasco on crew.

That gets us to the grav-drive that moves this beast.

I chose the Deep Core Apollo GV200 to go with the reactor, it has low mass for it's class, and 45 grav thrust is all we need to go 30LY, which is max distance in a single jump.

Paying attention to component mass means more mass for cargo.

You may thing grav fuel tanks don't matter, but they do, a lot. Mainly what matters is the mass to fuel ratio, and there are basically two tanks in the game that are way above the rest.

The 900T is the best at 10.833 units of fuel per unit of mass, second is what I'm using, two M50 Ulysses tanks.

The Dogstar M50 Ulysses tanks carry 10 units of fuel for every 1 mass, the second most efficient tanks in the game, and all I need to traverse the universe in a single go, as far as I've found anyway.

The next best tank is way down at 8.73 fuel per mass and it just goes down from there.

For shields I've decided on the Vanguard Bulwark Class B shield generator. It has just 150 less shields than the largest Class C generator in game, with 1% better regen which makes up for the trade-off. Not to mention it weights about half as much, which gives you a LOT more room for cargo.

The cockpit I've chosen strategically as well, the Stroud Eklund CP220 has 4 crew stations, which is all I need, and the best mass to cargo ratio you can get in game is with the cockpit, so spring for the top of the line cockpit with the most cargo, it's the closest thing to free cargo space in game

I have 4 hab modules on my ship armory, living quarters, science lab and workshop. The living quarters is conveniently located behind the cockpit and at the landing bay for easy sleep access.

Rest often to get that 10% XP well rested bonus.

Not to mention, what's a space RV without a bed?

Now let's talk firepower.

I don't mess around with laser or ballistic ship weapons, they both kinda suck, the best weapons are the particle beams which do an equal amount of damage to shield and hull so you don't have to worry about switching weapons mid fight if you're trying to destroy a ship.

These particular class B weapons, the Ballistic Solutions PBO-175 Auto Helion Beams serve up a ton of DPS, 4 of these melt through anything with ease, even on Very Hard difficulty. The damage combined with the fire rate are tough to match.

Now when I want to disable a ship to board it, I'll knock down it's shields with the Primary weapon, then with the help of a keyboard macro, I'll quickly power down my primary weapon, and switch over to my four Nullifier 1750 Suppressors.

One or two shots from these, and engines are quickly down.

I also have a defense option on my ship, 3 Ballistic Solutions PBO-300 Auto Alpha Turrets. Not the strongest turrets in game, but I'm power limited so running 3 of these consumes only 9 power, where running 3 of the big dog Obliterators would consume 12.

To power my turrets, I use another keyboard macro to power down the grav drive, and power these up.

I have another macro that will reverse the process in case I change my mind and need to jump out.

But anyway, that's my current ship. I've yet to see anyone do a build with so much speed, cargo, defense, firepower and versatility.

3000 cargo, 160 of it shielded
8 passenger slots
No ladders
1450 shields
150 speed
91 maneuverability
30LY jump range
4 crew capacity (easily upgraded)
