Wealth and power make people lose empathy.
It's a real psychological thing.
Maybe he started the cartoon when he was a Dilbert, then he got so rich that he began identifying with the boss.

Interesting. What I don’t see in the article is evidence that the bosses were ever empathetic. I wish there was more on that. I’ve seen jerks get promoted and they remained jerks. I’ve seen empathetic people get promoted and they remained empathetic. Maybe the footnoted articles have more detail. 🤔
