ICYMI:

Musk announced implementation of these Twitter/X changes on Friday:

1. Removal of the "likes", "retweet", and "replies" buttons. You must either double-click or swipe to indicate response to a tweet.

2. Ads are being changed so that they DON'T look like ads and CAN'T BE BLOCKED.

What is the point of devoting precious coding hours to make an absolutely unnecessary change like #1 ?

Tech experts who've written about the change believe Musk is turning Twitter/X into a large *click bait* platform. Musk will get more advertising money from advertisers if he tricks users into clicking on ads in their feeds. By eliminating replies, advertisers won't be abused by the non-payers.

The only reason that I’ve kept my account on that app is because my son’s college still uses it 😐

That's a wonderful reason. Maybe you could write your son's school and ask them to switch to Spoutible?

I'm keeping my Xitter account just to lurk and smile while the ship sinks. It is quite something to watch. Oh, and I get random likes on months old comments from attractive young women looking for a good time. No regrets packing it in over there.

Some ppl are telling me I shouldn't delete my xitter acct bec he'll reassign to a bot or whatever. But I'm scared ab him having access to my ph # etc. I keep going back& forth on what to do, like a frog in a pot basically. Btw bsky bad too. It makes user mutes/blocks public which sounds unsafe to me
