Exciting things in the garden this week and I am loving these Fall temps. The garden is lush. So much will be harvestable soon, like the bok choi. #Garden2023

I spent the week harvesting and brining cucumbers. I have a jar of spears that are ready to come off the fermentation station and in to the refrigerator today. Another in a couple of days and a fresh one just packed yesterday.

This week I learned I could grow green beans in the Fall. This will give me some pods for a while. I picked these a little on the smallish, but you want to do that in the beginning, so the plants pump out more flowers.

The lone cucumber plant that survived is looking diseased and the cucumbers are coming out with these weird shapes. Might be time to pull the plant and be satisfied with these 3 jars. I tried a new trellis method that was a complete fail. Going back to cattle panels for these.

I should be getting some French Breakfast radishes out of the garden this next week.

Pumpkins are starting to grow, but not as prolific. In spite of my attempts to shield the plants, the vine borers still managed to find them. I have some new ideas for next year.

Your garden is absolutely charming! What zone are you? I have one bed where I'm growing arugula and possibly kale for fall; otherwise I'm waiting for my last tomatoes, picking parsley and carrots when I need them, and slowly cleaning up for winter.

Zone 9a, so I can grow 4 seasons. I usually do carrots and broccoli in the Fall because the carrots are sweeter and the broccoli grows bigger. The only good thing about Texas.

And thank you. I have 3 6x3 beds, 9 grow bags and one 2x4 bed for my herbs. I also have a 3x6 bed for my Irises. I am getting ready to build a new 4x12 bed next.
