Never seen this before.
What looks like a short vertical rainbow just on the horizon.
I took several shots so people might see I did not Photoshop this in.
Sorry, my digital zoom is rubbish on my phone.

Looks like a sun dog. We get them radiating out like a clock face, on the quarters. It usually means ice particles up there.

This happens when two preconditions apply:
1. The sun is very low thus the the rainbow forms a very high arc
2. It rains only in part of the place where the rainbow could be visible.

If it rained all over the horizon, you would see an almost full semicircle with this part being the right "ending".
