I loved Scholastic when I was a kid, and esteemed them as an adult. They've lost that respect, and, I daresay, the respect of many other Gen-Xers, Millennials, and Gen-Zers.

I'm a Boomer with a child who went to Book Fairs from kindergarten through 5th grade. She would get to pick out 3 books, I'd pick out 2 for the family library, and then 1 for me. They had such wonderful books.
I was so mad. The ONLY reason this letter exists is because they couldn't get away with

the segregation of literature. We called them out. It gives me some pleasure to know we did the right thing but no pleasure that we had to. This should have been a no-brainer for a publishing company.
I'm with you. They lost my respect and it will be a long, uphill climb to get it back.
