True story: My father in law worked for some years as a Coroner's Officer, which involved hanging out in the mortuary a lot. One night he was in there alone and very slowly, with a sad, breathy groan, a dead body laid out on a mortuary table sat bolt upright, still dead.

Not all that uncommon. When rigor mortis sets in random muscles will tighten up, causing the body to sit upright, and usually expel air from the lungs that was there when they died. Still pretty scary!
