All of that is 100% reliant on the citizens who are doing the fighting because Afghanistan just surrendered the second they heard we were pulling out. They were totally unwilling to fight the Taliban on their own

Different cultures and beliefs. Remember what Zelenskyy said when the U.S. offered to airlift him out of Ukraine? "I need ammunition, not a ride." Ukrainians are fighters.

Agreed. Biden keeps saying it, and it's true: helping Ukraine is in our national interest, and I think it's also in our cultural interest. Are we the "last, best hope" or are we full of shit?
