I am as blue as you can possibly be, but this statement is false. Reality is 1a does infact protect it. 1a scope of what it doesn't cover is extremely limited. BUT this protection is ONLY from the government, other consequences is fair game on ALL speech.

But that’s my understanding. The 1st Amendment does actually protect hate speech, right up until it condones violence.

That’s not to say the government condones hate speech, either, but it isn’t banned
