Why is healthcare so expensive in America?

In the past few years, some hospital CEOs have seen their salaries increase by as much as 700 percent. Yes, you read that correctly.

Say it with me, Medicare for All.

We need more than a shallow soundbite. I am huge Medicare/Medicaid advocate & I am constantly amazed at how little Progressives know about how healthcare is consumed & serviced. We should be advocating 2 things: 1) Anyone who wants Medicare should be able to choose and 2) Value based care models

Private supplemental insurance can be bought just like in Australia but we need to get away from employers based health insurance. It is wasteful and impractical. Healthcare shouldn't be tied to the job.

100% Nothing will consumerize healthcare until health plans are forced to sell directly to us. Put Medicare on that same marketplace and let anyone who needs or wants it make their selection.

All insurance does is connect you with harecare professionals. Why do we need competition for payment? Do you care if you pay through mastercard or Visa? Choice should be kept for the doctors not health insurance companies. They are just the middle man making fat profits off your suffering!

I wish it were that simple. An MRI in the SF Bay area can cost $240. In some LA zip codes, it is $1200 for the same procedure using the same machine. Providers will charge whatever they can get away with. I am on Medicare. Not a single provider I use will accept it. M4ALL means I see no providers
