Having conversations is what the old Facebook used to be. Now, I avoid rhe comments where trolls and spammers have taken over, much like Twitter.

Few big names want conversations. They're there to promote their brand.

Correct, and Threads is filling that void. I want to take the community aspect of Spoutible and scale it. Less "look at meeee" and more "let's have a discussion," and then show others why that is better.

I'm still on Facebook, mainly for the private groups my favorite authors use to interact with readers.

I don't see them making the move here as they are well established.

Too true. For a lot of Big Names, I think social media is mainly a marketing thing - effectively a form of advertising. It’s not about engagement so much as purely eyeballs.
