To help folks become more comfortable with seeing other languages, I’m going to conjure up the little bit of Japanese that I still remember from college:

*ahem*

私は自分の猫が大好きです.
(I love my cat.)

My teen son who passed away at age 14 was learning Japanese and rec'd college credit. His headstone says:

(dream)
In Japanese, it is not just dreams past, but also dreams for the future. The word was suggested by Danny's tutor who discussed it with her friend, a Buddhist monk in Japan.

Even if only a portion of what you once knew, how wonderful & incredible that you know this! How many characters are there to learn?

Thanks! 😄

There’s a lot of them.

There's Hiragana: the alphabet of characters for native Japanese words

Katakana: the alphabet of characters for words that’s aren’t native to Japan.

Kanji: Chinese characters that can have different sounds and meanings. There’s A LOT of kanji.
